A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §61-3-59, relating to making it a felony to possess a stolen firearm with an altered serial number; and establishing a penalty.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:


ARTICLE 3. CRIMES AGAINST PROPERTY.


§61-3-59. Possession of stolen firearm with an altered serial number.

A person who is in possession of a stolen firearm with an altered, destroyed or wiped off serial number is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, shall be confined in a state correctional facility not less than one nor more than fifteen years.


 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to make it a felony to possess a stolen firearm with altered serial number. The bill establishes a penalty.
